McCaffrey not expected to face Lions in Week 11
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey isn't expected to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions, the team announced Wednesday.
McCaffrey missed last week's matchup versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a shoulder injury and could reportedly be sidelined for multiple weeks.
The All-Pro back suffered the shoulder ailment in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs, his first appearance after being sidelined for six games due to an ankle injury.
McCaffrey, 24, has amassed 374 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns through three games this season after leading the league with 2,392 total yards and 19 scores in 2019.
Mike Davis will continue to carry the load at running back in McCaffrey's absence. The 27-year-old veteran has rushed for 385 yards (4.2 per carry) and two touchdowns through 10 appearances this year. He's also caught 47 passes for 290 yards and two scores.
The 3-7 Panthers may also be without their starting quarterback against the Lions, as Teddy Bridgewater is reportedly considered day-to-day after suffering an MCL sprain.
