Panthers' Rhule not expecting McCaffrey to play vs. Packers
Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule doesn't think Christian McCaffrey will recover from his shoulder and thigh injuries in time to play against the Green Bay Packers Saturday, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press.
Rhule said McCaffrey's status could change if he practices Wednesday. McCaffrey was limited in the team's walk-through practice Tuesday.
Injuries have plagued the 24-year-old's 2020 campaign, causing him to miss 10 games this season.
The running back faces durability issues just one year after leading the league in touches (403) and yards from scrimmage (2392).
Another absence for McCaffrey will lead to more carries for backup Mike Davis. The 27-year-old back has performed decently this season, averaging slightly over four yards per carry while also totaling 926 yards from scrimmage.
The Panthers are currently 4-9 and tied for last in the NFC South.
