Report: Washington signs Miller off Bears' practice squad
The Washington Football Team signed veteran running back Lamar Miller off the Chicago Bears' practice squad, a source told JP Finlay of NBC Sports.
Miller is set to join Washington's active roster and will be active for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, Finlay adds.
The 29-year-old runner has appeared in just one game this season. He had two receptions for 6 yards during the Bears' loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.
Miller signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots during the offseason but was released prior to the start of the regular season.
He made his first career Pro Bowl with the Houston Texans in 2018. He racked up five consecutive campaigns with at least 1,000 scrimmage yards from 2014-18. His streak ended when a torn ACL sidelined him for the entire 2019 season.
Signing Miller might indicate that rookie running back Antonio Gibson won't be available against the Seahawks. Gibson has been sidelined for the last two games due to a foot injury.
Washington is currently leading the NFC East with a 6-7 record.
