Patriots' Gilmore suffers knee injury in loss to Dolphins
New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore missed most of Sunday's 22-12 loss to the Miami Dolphins after suffering a leg injury in the second quarter.
The Patriots announced Gilmore suffered a knee injury and listed him as doubtful to return. The team then downgraded the reigning Defensive Player of the Year to out in the fourth quarter.
However, Gilmore's injury actually isn't to his knee and may not be as serious as anticipated, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Gilmore will undergo tests Monday, Rapoport adds.
The 30-year-old already missed three games earlier this season due to a knee ailment.
The three-time Pro Bowler entered Week 15 with 35 tackles, one forced fumble, one interception, and three pass breakups through 10 games this year. Gilmore racked up two tackles against the Dolphins before exiting.
He led the NFL with six interceptions in 2019.
The Patriots' loss to the Dolphins eliminated New England from the playoff race for the first time since 2008.
