Lamar after missing Pro Bowl: Other QBs 'deserve it'
Lamar Jackson's last two seasons have been drastically different.
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback went from unanimously being named the MVP a year ago to not even making the Pro Bowl this season.
After that drop-off, Jackson is fine with not being named to the AFC's Pro Bowl squad this year, and he thinks the other signal-callers selected deserve the honor.
"I feel those guys who made it to the Pro Bowl, deserve it," Jackson said Wednesday. "That's a lot of great quarterbacks, and a lot of great players who are going to be in it. I'm cool with it."
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, and Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans were the AFC passers selected to the Pro Bowl.
Jackson has completed 64.8% of his pass attempts this season while throwing for 21 touchdowns against eight interceptions through 13 games. He's also rushed for 828 yards and seven scores.
Seven other Ravens earned Pro Bowl nods, including six who also went last year: Offensive tackle Orlando Brown, long snapper Morgan Cox, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, linebacker Matthew Judon, fullback Patrick Ricard, and kicker Justin Tucker.
The Ravens are fighting for a playoff spot, but Baltimore doesn't control its own destiny. Though the team needs at least one of its opponents currently in the playoff picture to lose a game, Jackson is focused on the club winning its last two contests.
"We're just going to let it take care of itself," he added. "We're not focused on the outside, other teams, and stuff like that. We're focused on ourselves."
The 9-5 Ravens host the New York Giants in Week 16 before traveling to Cincinnati to face the Bengals in their regular-season finale.
