Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson broke the NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in the Super Bowl era, surpassing Anquan Boldin during Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Jefferson bested Boldin, who recorded 1,377 receiving yards during his rookie campaign in 2003, on a reception late in the third quarter.

The wideout surpassed Hall of Famer Randy Moss earlier in the contest to break the Vikings rookie record set in 1998. Jefferson topped Moss' 1,313 receiving yards when he caught a third-quarter pass from Kirk Cousins on Sunday.

Jefferson foreshadowed the franchise record falling before the Week 17 matchup, wearing cleats to honor Moss.

The No. 22 pick has been a consistent bright spot for Minnesota. Jefferson recorded 133 receiving yards in the Week 17 finale, his seventh 100-yard game of the season.
