Gore leaves door open for return: I'm still having 'fun'
New York Jets running back Frank Gore didn't rule out returning for a 17th season in 2021.
Gore told reporters Tuesday he hasn't made a decision on retirement yet and will take some time to evaluate his future, according to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. The veteran also said he's still having "fun" playing the game.
Retirement questions have surfaced often at the end of each season for the 37-year-old, with Gore ending talks last offseason by signing a one-year deal with the Jets.
Gore finished the 2020 season as the leading rusher for a 2-14 club that experienced various issues, such as subpar play and injuries. He accumulated 653 rushing yards but was unable to finish the year on his terms, missing the season finale due to a lung injury.
The 2005 San Francisco 49ers draft pick has produced a lengthy and impressive career at a position where players don't often remain effective as they age. He ranks third all time with 16,000 rushing yards.
