Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely after reinstatement rescinded

The NFL rescinded Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon's conditional reinstatement, meaning he's suspended indefinitely again.

Gordon was reinstated in December and expected to be eligible for the final two games of the regular season. However, the 29-year-old was then ruled ineligible after suffering a setback in his battle with substance abuse.

The wideout apparently reacted to the news on Twitter:

Gordon took the league by storm as a member of the Cleveland Browns, topping all receivers with 1,646 yards in 2013, his second year in the NFL. He also amassed 87 catches and nine touchdowns that year, earning a first-team All-Pro nod.

But several suspensions for performance-enhancing drugs and substance abuse violations derailed Gordon's career.

Gordon was first disciplined in 2013 when he missed two games of his breakout year with the Browns. He then played in only five contests the following season due to another ban.

His longest suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy came in 2015 when he was sidelined for an entire year. The pass-catcher stepped away from football during Cleveland's 2016 campaign to seek rehabilitation.

Gordon appeared in five games for the Seahawks in 2019 after joining the team midway through the regular season.
