Chiefs' Reid: Bieniemy would be an 'owner's dream' as HC

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke highly of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy on Tuesday.

The Chiefs offensive coordinator has been frequently discussed during the 2021 coaching carousel and Reid believes Bieniemy would align perfectly with any front office.

"He's tremendous, a leader of men. There's nobody better that's a better leader of men than Eric Bieniemy. Nobody. He is tremendous, and for an organization to have him be a part of that and to just take off and run with that is an owner's dream," Reid said on The Team 980's "Brian Mitchell Show."

Bieniemy has interviewed with numerous clubs but most have gone in a different direction for their head coaching vacancy. Reid suggested the virtual hiring climate could be the reason for teams snubbing the coordinator.

"I don't know if they can learn that (about Bieniemy) in an hour Webex meeting, you know," Reid added.

Only two teams - the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles - remain on the hunt for a new head coach, and each club has expressed various levels of interest. The Eagles reportedly put in a request to interview the coordinator while the Texans spoke to Bieniemy on Monday after receiving clearance from the NFL.

Bieniemy was reportedly one of the top choices picked out by Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, but the team opted to interview other candidates first.

The Chiefs' offense has thrived under Bieniemy, who's been in his current role since 2018. Kansas City has ranked first in total offense in two of his three years while also finishing in the top 10 in scoring throughout his tenure.
