Report: Patriots expected to attend Fields' 2nd pro day
The San Francisco 49ers aren't the only team that will be watching Justin Fields during his second pro day.
The New England Patriots are also expected to attend the former Ohio State signal-caller's workout on Wednesday, Albert Breer of the MMQB reports.
Neither Bill Belichick nor Kyle Shanahan attended Fields' first pro day, electing to watch Mac Jones' workout in Alabama instead. Fields impressed during that session, and he enters the draft after throwing for 67 touchdowns and just nine interceptions during his collegiate career.
It was previously reported that New England was aggressively scouting the 2021 class of quarterbacks. The Patriots hold the 15th overall pick, and the front office would likely need to trade up if it's interested in Fields. The heralded prospect is a candidate to be the 49ers' selection at No. 3 as well, though Jones has also been widely linked to San Francisco.
The Patriots' offense struggled in 2020, finishing 27th in scoring. Cam Newton, who was re-signed to a one-year deal this offseason, tossed eight touchdown passes with 10 interceptions during his first campaign in New England.
