JuJu on 'Browns is the Browns' remark: 'I don't take anything back'

Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster doesn't regret his "the Browns is the Browns" remark.

"At the end of the day, I said what I said. I don't take anything back," the pass-catcher recently said on "PFT PM," according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Smith-Schuster made his now-infamous comment in the week leading up to last year's AFC wild-card matchup and was in reference to the Browns' lack of success over the years. At the time, Cleveland had just broken its 17-year playoff drought, but Smith-Schuster also said, "They're still the same Browns team I play every year."

Cleveland went on to upset Pittsburgh on the road, clinching its first postseason victory in over two decades.

Smith-Schuster believes his shot against the Browns helped them win.

"Probably a lot, honestly," Smith-Schuster said when asked if his comments motivated the Browns. "I'm not going to lie to you. It got to a point where the Cleveland Browns had a billboard up in Cleveland that said, 'The Browns is the Browns.' I think by me saying that, it says that a lot of people care about what I say."

He added: "They did come out there, they did whoop our ass. It is what it is. We lost that game. We lost early in that game in the first five, 10 minutes."

The Steelers and Browns also met twice during the 2020 regular season, with each team winning once.
