The Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen agreed to an extension that will keep him under contract through 2028, the club announced Friday.

The six-year pact is reportedly worth $258 million and includes $150 million in guaranteed money, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Allen's $150 million in guaranteed money would be the most received in a single contract in NFL history, according to ESPN.

Name Guaranteed Money in Single Contract
Josh Allen $150M
Patrick Mahomes $141.5M
Dak Prescott $126M

Additionally, Allen's average annual value of $43 million would rank second in the NFL, only trailing Patrick Mahomes, who earns $45 million per year, according to Spotrac.

Allen's contract was Buffalo's biggest priority this offseason after the club picked up his fifth-year option in May. The two sides set the beginning of the regular season as a deadline for agreeing on an extension.

"Josh has been everything we could've asked for and then some, and we think the best is yet to come," Bills general manager Brandon Beane said after the deal.

Allen knows even more will be expected of him after landing the huge contract.

"Now, we can focus on going out there and earning it and making sure that they understand that I know that they didn't pay me for what I've done. They did this 'cause they expect me to continue what I'm doing and expect me to go win this team some championships," he said.

Drafted seventh overall by the Bills in 2018, Allen proved his worth in 2020. He finished runner-up in MVP voting after setting new franchise records in single-season touchdown passes (37), passing yards (4,544), and total touchdowns (46). He powered the Bills to a 13-3 record and an appearance in the AFC Championship Game.

The 25-year-old owns a career record of 28-15 with 67 passing touchdowns against 31 interceptions.
