LaFleur: Rodgers unlikely to play in preseason
Expect a heavy dose of Jordan Love this preseason.
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that Aaron Rodgers will "most likely not" play during the preseason. He added that Love will receive the majority of the snaps Saturday against the Houston Texans.
Although Rodgers has criticized the organization this offseason, the reigning MVP rarely participates in exhibition action. He last lined up under center in the preseason in 2018, albeit for just one series, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.
Love will take his first NFL snaps against the Texans. The 2020 first-rounder didn't see any regular-season action during his rookie campaign after the NFL canceled last year's preseason.
The former Utah State passer is elated to finally suit up for the Packers.
"I'm super excited," Love said last week, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra.
He added: "It's almost like I've been training a year just for this first preseason game. I'm super excited to get out there and get back to playing ball."
Kurt Benkert is set to finish the remainder of Saturday's contest once Love exits.
