Jason Peters signs with Bears
Veteran Jason Peters agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears, his agency announced.
Chicago will give the former Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle a one-year contract, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports. Peters, 39, will be reunited with his former offensive line coach Juan Castillo, which was a major factor in his signing.
Head coach Matt Nagy said Peters will compete to be the team's starting left tackle, according to Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times.
The nine-time Pro Bowler spent the last 12 years with the Eagles and was a mainstay at left tackle during his tenure. He started 148 games in Philadelphia and was part of the 2017 Super Bowl team, though he was on injured reserve when the game was played.
Peters began his career with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He enjoyed a five-year stay in Buffalo before heading to Philadelphia before the 2009 season.
