Rodgers, Bakhtiari petition Packers to bring back Clay Matthews
It looks like Aaron Rodgers wants Clay Matthews back in Green Bay.
The Packers quarterback joined Randall Cobb and David Bakhtiari in sharing a photo of the former Pro Bowl pass-rusher on Instagram. Rodgers accompanied his post with the caption, "Bring him back."
Matthews played 10 of his 11 NFL seasons with the Packers, who selected him in the first round of the 2009 draft. He earned six Pro Bowl nods and recorded 83.5 sacks with Green Bay, putting up a career-high 13.5 sacks during the 2010 season to help the Packers win the Super Bowl.
The 35-year-old linebacker did not play in the NFL last season. He last appeared with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, recording eight sacks over 13 starts.
Green Bay already brought back Cobb in a trade with the Houston Texans to appease Rodgers. The reigning league MVP was at odds with the Packers for most of the offseason before agreeing to a revised contract and reporting to training camp.
