Former Titans GM Reese dies at 73
Former Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese died Saturday at the age of 73 after a battle with cancer, the team announced.
"This is a sad day for our Titans family," Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk said. "Floyd spent over two decades with our franchise in a variety of roles - position coach, assistant general manager, and ultimately, general manager - and he excelled at all of them."
Reese began his career as a linebackers coach with the then-Houston Oilers in 1986. He eventually became the general manager of the Oilers/Titans in 1994, a position he held until 2006.
The Titans enjoyed plenty of success under Reese. He's the winningest general manager in franchise history after finishing his career with 111 wins, with 106 victories coming in the regular season. Tennessee appeared in one Super Bowl and two AFC Championship Games under Reese.
The former general manager is also credited with drafting numerous franchise greats. Draft picks during Reese's tenure include Eddie George, Steve McNair, Jevon Kearse, and Derrick Mason, among others.
The Titans will induct Reese into the team's Ring of Honor this season.
