49ers sign Josh Norman

The San Francisco 49ers are adding another veteran to their secondary.

The team has agreed to terms with veteran cornerback Josh Norman.

The 33-year-old can earn up to $2.5 million in 2021, reports NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Norman spent the 2020 season on the Buffalo Bills, racking up 24 tackles, one interception, and four pass breakups through nine appearances (three starts). Opposing quarterbacks posted an 84 passer rating in the 32 pass attempts made against Norman's coverage.

The veteran defensive back is now years removed from his prime. He earned an All-Pro selection and was a Pro Bowler after producing a career year with the Carolina Panthers in 2015.

Norman became a free agent following his breakout year in Carolina and then signed a five-year pact with the Washington Football Team, who released him four years into the deal.

He'll provide depth in the 49ers' secondary, which lost veterans Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon during free agency this year. San Francisco's depth chart also features corners Jason Verrett, Emmanuel Moseley, K'Waun Williams, and third-round rookie Ambry Thomas.
