Roethlisberger: I'm going to do 'everything I can' to play Week 3
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is determined to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals despite being a surprise addition to the injury report Tuesday due to a left pectoral issue.
"(I'm) going to do everything I can," Roethlisberger said Wednesday about his availability to play in Week 3, according to Gerry Dulac of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
"I don't know how it happened, I just know it happened early in the game," he continued, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
The 39-year-old was hit 10 times and sacked twice during Pittsburgh's Week 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He said the ailment affected him during the contest, and added it hurts "when I reach for something outside the framework of my body or, you know, trying to push off, get off the ground."
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin didn't sound concerned about Roethlisberger heading into Week 3, saying Tuesday the injury could affect the seven-time Pro Bowler "from a preparation standpoint."
Roethlisberger has completed 62.5% of his pass attempts for 483 yards and two touchdowns against one interception through two games this season.
