LeSean McCoy retiring with Eagles

LeSean McCoy is ending his career where it began.

The veteran running back is signing a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Thursday.

A second-round pick in 2009, McCoy spent the first six seasons of his career with the Eagles, putting up 9,074 yards from scrimmage and 54 total touchdowns.

McCoy emerged as one of the NFL's most dynamic backs during his stretch in Philadelphia after leading the league in rushing touchdowns (17) in 2011 and rushing yards (1,607) in 2013.

He spent the following four years of his career with the Buffalo Bills after the Eagles traded him. He was a consistent starter in Buffalo before playing with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. The 33-year-old was limited to a situational role in Kansas City and Tampa Bay, but he won a Super Bowl with each club to cap off his career.

The six-time Pro Bowler consistently topped the rushing leaderboards over the last decade, earning two first-team All-Pro selections. McCoy's 10,434 rushing yards and 2,755 touches rank first among all players during the 2010s, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
