Titans' Jones, Brown won't face Jets in Week 4
The Tennessee Titans will try to win their third straight game Sunday without two top wide receivers.
Head coach Mike Vrabel ruled out Julio Jones and A.J. Brown for Tennessee's Week 4 clash with the New York Jets due to hamstring injuries.
Both pass-catchers sustained the injuries during last week's win over the Indianapolis Colts. Brown left the game early in the first quarter and didn't return, while Jones was sidelined through most of the second half.
Jones wasn't listed on the Titans' injury report prior to the game, and Vrabel suggested that the decision to not play him for most of the second half was due to workload management.
Tennessee put together one of the NFL's top receiving duos this offseason after trading for Jones and lining him up with Brown, but the pair has started slow. Jones has caught 12 passes for 204 yards through three appearances, while Brown has amassed 92 yards and one touchdown on seven receptions.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine stepped up at wide receiver for the Titans last week against the Colts, racking up four catches for 53 yards and one score. Tennessee's wideout depth chart also features Josh Reynolds, Chester Rogers, and Cameron Batson, among others.
The Titans, who rank third in rushing attempts in 2021, should continue to heavily rely on their running game against the Jets. All-Pro running back Derrick Henry currently leads the league with 353 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Titans also ruled out linebacker Bud Dupree for Week 4 on Friday due to a knee injury.
