Report: Montgomery set to miss 4-5 weeks with knee sprain
Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery is expected to miss four-to-five weeks after tests revealed he suffered a knee sprain Sunday against the Detroit Lions, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports.
Montgomery could potentially return around the Bears' Week 10 bye, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The 24-year-old was in the midst of a tremendous rushing effort in Sunday's victory before exiting, tallying 106 yards and two touchdowns.
Montgomery has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a stagnant offense. He has accumulated 309 yards on the ground and two 100-plus yard performances this season.
Chicago will likely turn to Damien Williams while Montgomery is sidelined. Williams rushed for 55 yards on eight carries during the Week 4 win over Detroit.
