Panthers activate Gilmore off PUP list ahead of Week 8 game vs. Falcons
Stephon Gilmore is ready to make his Carolina Panthers debut Sunday.
The Panthers have activated the veteran cornerback from the physically unable to perform list ahead of their Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Saturday.
Gilmore, who hasn't played this year due to a quad injury, was traded from the New England Patriots earlier this month in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2023. The Panthers pursued Gilmore after losing first-round rookie corner Jaycee Horn to a foot ailment.
The 31-year-old Gilmore also missed five games in 2020 and couldn't replicate his success from 2019 when he was named Defensive Player of the Year.
The four-time Pro Bowler is joining a cornerback depth chart in Carolina that also features Donte Jackson, rookie Keith Taylor, and CJ Henderson, among others.
Gilmore will have a chance to face his former team in Week 9 when the Panthers take on the Patriots.
