Report: Murray has sprained ankle, Cardinals hoping QB won't miss time
The Arizona Cardinals are hopeful that the additional days of rest before Week 9 will allow Kyler Murray not to miss any games after the star quarterback suffered a medial ankle sprain on Thursday Night Football, reports Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.
Murray's ailment could sideline him for one-to-three weeks, according to Glazer.
"He legitimately sprained his ankle," Glazer said.
Murray said postgame Thursday that he isn't injured. However, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that the signal-caller would be re-evaluated Monday, according to Darren Urban of azcardinals.com.
The Pro Bowl passer, who's the MVP front-runner so far this season, limped off the field in Week 8 after throwing an end-zone interception that sealed a 24-21 defeat to the Green Bay Packers. He wore a walking boot as a precautionary measure when he left the stadium.
Murray will have three extra days to heal before the Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 7.
The 2019 first overall pick has completed 72.7% of his passes while tossing for 2,276 yards and 17 touchdowns against seven interceptions this season. Arizona owns a 7-1 record.
