Report: Cardinals' Edmonds to miss time with high ankle sprain
Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds is expected to miss multiple games after suffering a high ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Edmonds underwent an MRI on Monday and is likely to land on injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That would sideline him for at least three games.
He suffered the injury on the Cardinals' first offensive play, paving the way for James Conner to carry the load. Conner finished the contest with three touchdowns in Edmonds' absence.
The Cardinals have relied on both backs this season. Conner has taken the bulk of carries (115 to 76), while Edmonds has produced greatly as a receiver, recording 30 receptions to Conner's 10. Edmonds is also averaging a career-high 6.0 yards per touch in 2021.
If Edmonds is sidelined, he'll become Arizona's latest offensive weapon to face an absence. The Cardinals were without Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins on Sunday due to injuries, while A.J. Green was also unavailable after being placed on the COVID-19 list.
Arizona heads into Week 10 with a league-best 8-1 record.
