Jets name Mike White starting QB vs. Bills
The New York Jets will start Mike White at quarterback for their Week 10 meeting with the Buffalo Bills, head coach Robert Saleh announced Wednesday, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
Rookie passer Zach Wilson will sit another week as he continues to recover from a knee injury. Wilson sprained his PCL in a Week 7 loss and was expected to miss two-to-four weeks.
During an impressive first start, White led the Jets to an upset win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 while throwing for 405 yards and three touchdowns. His second start ended prematurely after he exited last week's game versus the Indianapolis Colts with an injury.
White's emergence has led to questions over the Jets' starting quarterback job. Robert Saleh has continued to be noncommittal on Wilson's role once he returns, telling reporters Wednesday that the decision is "day-to-day," according to Brian Costello of the New York Post.
"We'll see," Saleh said when asked if White would start in the future, per Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.
Saleh added: "(Wilson is) trending in the right direction. We'll see how he practices this week and see how he feels."
Wilson's struggled in his rookie campaign. The former second overall pick has tossed more interceptions (9) than touchdowns (4) and has a 63.5 passer rating.
