Browns, Bitonio agree to 3-year extension worth reported $48M
The Cleveland Browns agreed to a three-year contract extension with guard Joel Bitonio, the team announced Wednesday.
The extension is worth roughly $48 million, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Browns inked Wyatt Teller to a new four-year, $56.8-million deal one day prior. Cleveland now has its entire starting offensive line under contract until the end of 2022.
General manager Andrew Berry explained that extending Bitonio was a high priority for the Browns and said the organization believes the lineman could end up in the Hall of Fame.
"We are all excited about this extension and hopeful that at the end of his career, we will all be looking forward to celebrating Joel's gold jacket fitting in Canton," Berry said in a statement.
Bitonio has developed into one of the league's best interior linemen. He's made the Pro Bowl in each of his last three seasons and hasn't missed a regular-season snap since the start of the 2017 campaign. Bitonio's also been an instrumental force in a Browns rushing attack that finished third in yardage last season and is currently second this year.
