Harbaugh takes blame for TNF loss: Dolphins 'outcoached us, outplayed us'
John Harbaugh directed blame at himself for the Baltimore Ravens' shocking 22-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.
"(The Dolphins) outcoached us, outplayed us, and won the football game," Harbaugh said postgame, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "So, (the) bottom line is this falls squarely on me as the head coach.
"We were not prepared the way we need to be prepared. Our schemes weren't up to snuff. And we weren't prepared to execute the way we needed to. So, that's it. Not on one player. Our players played their hearts out. They worked hard all week. They did everything (they) could to be prepared and just weren't ready. That's on me."
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens had no answers for a Miami defense that blitzed them at an unprecedented rate. Safeties Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones, in particular, blitzed more times than any defensive back in a game since 2016, according to Next Gen Stats.
Baltimore's 10 points Thursday were a season low as the team felt the heat from the Dolphins' pressure. Meanwhile, Jackson only recorded 39 yards on the ground, his second-lowest total of the year.
"That's something they've done all year," Harbaugh said, according to team reporter Ryan Mink. "We worked on it all week. We didn't have a good enough plan for it, you know, as a group, and we didn't execute well with the plan we had."
The loss dropped the Ravens to 6-3, while the Dolphins have won two in a row to move to 3-7.
