Report: Hopkins set to miss remainder of regular season with knee sprain

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season due to a sprained knee, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

However, the Cardinals are hopeful the star wideout will return at some point in the postseason, Schefter adds.

It's uncertain if the 29-year-old wideout requires surgery, Schefter adds.

Hopkins was absent for the final plays of Arizona's loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that Hopkins would get a second opinion on his injury following an earlier MRI, according to Cardinals staff writer Kevin Parrish Jr.

After missing just two games through the first eight seasons of his career, Hopkins has struggled to stay on the field in 2021. He missed three contests earlier this campaign due to a hamstring injury.

If he fails to return prior to the postseason, Hopkins' season will end with 42 receptions, 572 yards, and eight touchdowns across 10 games.

Meanwhile, running back James Conner is day-to-day with an ankle injury, Kingsbury added.

The Cardinals dropped from the No. 1 seed in the conference to No. 3 following Monday's loss.
