Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is "highly unlikely" to play against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16, Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said Monday, according to Andrew Mason of DNVR Sports.

Bridgewater is in the concussion protocol after being stretchered off following a scary hit in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He was hospitalized overnight but was released Monday.

Fangio said the veteran quarterback "sounded much better" when they spoke earlier Monday, according to Mike Klis of 9News. A stint on injured reserve is not being considered at the moment, Fangio added, per Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports.

Drew Lock will be in line to start if Bridgewater can't go in Week 16. He entered Sunday's game after Bridgewater's exit and finished with 88 yards and one touchdown on 6-of-12 passing.

Lock has yet to start a game this season but has appeared in three contests, throwing for 227 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Bridgewater has tossed 18 scores to seven picks.

The Broncos currently sit on the outside of the AFC playoff picture with a 7-7 record.
