Report: Saints to start rookie QB Book on MNF vs. Dolphins
The New Orleans Saints will start rookie quarterback Ian Book against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Book will reportedly replace Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian, who the Saints placed on the COVID-19 list on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Book, who the team drafted in the fourth round out of Notre Dame in April, will be New Orleans' fourth different starting signal-caller this campaign. Book has yet to attempt a pass in the NFL.
The Saints began the year with Jameis Winston under center, but the former first overall pick suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 8. Siemian and Hill have since started four and three games, respectively, posting a combined 2-5 record.
It's unclear who will back up Book in Week 16 since New Orleans currently doesn't have any quarterbacks on the practice squad.
Monday's matchup presents big playoff implications for both the Saints and Dolphins.
