Aaron Rodgers left his future open again Wednesday, saying he isn't ruling out retiring after the 2021 season.

"I'm just enjoying this season for this season, and I think playing next year will definitely be in the thought process," Rodgers said, according to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

He added, "(My decision) won't be something that I drag out for months and months. ... Once I commit - and if it's committing to move forward here - it'll be a quick decision."

The 38-year-old said he would consult with loved ones, as well as Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, team president Mark Murphy, vice president Russ Ball, and the coaching staff.

Rodgers skipped mandatory minicamp in June due to disputes with the Packers' front office, leading to trade speculation.

He eventually returned to Green Bay for training camp in July on a reworked deal that could help set up his departure from the franchise in 2022.

However, the reigning NFL MVP said he isn't necessarily thinking about playing for another franchise next year.

"I do appreciate a lot of the things I've seen from the team that are directly related to conversations we had in the offseason," Rodgers said. "I've enjoyed being a part of conversations that directly affect my job. ... Brian has taken a lead on that and I do appreciate the way our relationship has grown."

The 10-time Pro Bowler is the favorite to be named MVP for the second straight year. He won the award in 2011, 2014, and 2020. He completed 68% of his passes for 33 touchdowns against four interceptions in 14 games this season.

Green Bay currently owns the NFL's best record at 12-3.
