Bengals' Chase breaks single-game receiving records in win over Chiefs
Ja'Marr Chase put up a historic 266 yards to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a 34-31 playoff-clinching victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chase's 266 yards broke both the NFL rookie record for receiving yards in a game and the Bengals' single-game franchise record.
He set the record on a huge conversion on third-and-27 late to extend the game-winning drive.
Chase's big day moved him past former franchise icon Chad Johnson, who previously held the club's single-game record with a 260-yard performance in 2006 against the then San Diego Chargers.
The rookie wideout also scored three times in Sunday's win. He flashed his blazing speed on his first trip to the end zone and his body control on his second.
Chase's contributions helped the Bengals clinch their first division title since 2015. A strong candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year, the 21-year-old now has 79 receptions, 1,429 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns on the season.
