Raiders' Hobbs arrested for DUI
Police arrested Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs for driving under the influence Monday in Las Vegas, according to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department obtained by ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.
Witnesses told police they saw Hobbs asleep at the wheel of a car on a parking lot exit ramp. Officers responded to the call at around 4 a.m. and arrested the first-year player after he failed field sobriety tests.
Hobbs' attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, said their client shouldn't have been charged with DUI.
"The facts and circumstances related by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to the news media leave serious concerns that this does not qualify as a DUI under Nevada law," Chesnoff and Schonfeld told TMZ Sports.
Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia addressed the incident Monday.
"I don't have all the information on that, but I feel good about saying they've been hit over the face with distractions and things of that nature," Bisaccia said. "We're very cognizant of the city we live in, so I'll leave it at that, and we'll see what it looks like at the end of the week."
The Raiders drafted Hobbs in the fifth round last April. The Illinois product has started nine games this season, including Sunday's 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
