Bengals' Chase claims Offensive Rookie of the Year
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase earned the Offensive Rookie of the Year award at the NFL Honors show Thursday.
Drafted fifth overall, Chase recorded more receiving yards (1,455) than any rookie in the Super Bowl era during a historic 2021 campaign. He also surpassed Chad Johnson's single-season franchise record of 1,440 yards.
Chase beat out of the likes of New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey, and Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater for the top rookie honor.
After struggling with drops during the preseason, Chase exploded onto the scene in the regular season. He crossed the 200-yard mark in two games, including a rookie record 266-yard performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17.
The tandem of Chase and quarterback Joe Burrow has propelled the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI, the franchise's first championship appearance in 33 years. Chase has put up 279 receiving yards on 20 receptions during Cincinnati's postseason run.
