Report: McVay set for new deal in offseason
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is in line for a new contract extension this offseason, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McVay, who reportedly has two more years left on his deal, swatted away any concern over his long-term future Saturday, stating that he is "committed" to the Rams and coaching.
The 36-year-old's longevity on the sideline was called into question earlier after he spoke about prioritizing his family amid reports he was considering working as a TV analyst.
"I know I love football, and I'm so invested in this thing, and I'm in the moment right now," McVay said Friday. "But at some point, too, if you said what do you want to be able to do? I want to be able to have a family, and I want to be able to spend time with them."
Los Angeles will appear in its second Super Bowl in four years under McVay. After getting to the title game with quarterback Jared Goff in 2018, McVay and the Rams have made it to Super Bowl LVI with Matthew Stafford under center. Acquired in an offseason trade, Stafford has been a formidable match in McVay's offense, leading the club to 12-5 during his first campaign in L.A.
McVay has compiled a 55-26 record in his five years as coach, with the Rams never finishing worse than 9-7. His offense has also ranked in the top ten in scoring during three of his five years as a bench boss.
