Burrow suffered sprained MCL in Super Bowl, won't need surgery
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's Super Bowl loss to the Los Angeles Rams, head coach Zac Taylor announced Tuesday, according to ESPN's Ben Baby.
Taylor ruled out surgery for Burrow, saying rest is the best thing for the quarterback.
Burrow was sacked seven times in Sunday's 23-20 loss and was under constant pressure from the Rams' defense. He favored his knee following a fourth-quarter sack but managed to stay in the game.
The signal-caller was on the receiving end of 19 sacks during the Bengals' playoff run, setting a new NFL postseason record. Burrow was also taken down a league-leading 51 times in the regular season.
The 25-year-old tore his ACL and MCL during his rookie campaign in 2020. He returned in 2021 to lead the Bengals to their first division title since 2015 and first Super Bowl appearance in 33 years.
