Report: Panthers getting trade calls for McCaffrey
The Carolina Panthers have received multiple trade inquiries for All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, sources told Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.
While McCaffrey isn't on the trade block, the Panthers would be searching for a first-round pick and an additional piece of compensation in exchange for the running back, Jones adds.
Arguably one of the league's most dynamic options out of the backfield, McCaffrey has struggled to remain on the field over the past two seasons. He's suited up for only 10 games since 2020, accumulating 667 rushing yards and 492 receiving yards.
The Panthers made McCaffrey the NFL's highest-paid running back with a four-year, $64-million contract during the 2020 offseason after he put up a league-high 2,392 scrimmage yards in 2019.
The 25-year-old carries a $14.3-million cap hit and a $26.6-million dead money charge for 2022, per Spotrac.
