Bills GM: Diggs' contract won't be an issue
After Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams reset the wide receiver market with record-setting contracts this offseason, other top pass-catchers like Stefon Diggs may soon be looking for a significant raise.
Although the Buffalo Bills star has recorded 2,760 yards and 18 touchdowns across two seasons since joining the club in 2020, his $14.4-million average annual salary ranks just 21st among receivers, according to Spotrac. However, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane doesn't expect any problems when the two sides start negotiating a new deal.
"We've got Stefon for two years, so we know that," Beane said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "At the right time, we'll work with his reps and see if there's something to be done that works for him.
"He's a winner. He's all-in on winning. And, sure, everybody wants to be paid, but he wants to be on a winning team. I think he's been the best version of himself. So, I don't see that being an issue."
Following a contract dispute between Adams and the Green Bay Packers, the Las Vegas Raiders acquired the pass-catcher March 17 and gave him a five-year, $140-million deal, which became the all-time highest average annual value among receivers. A week later, Hill topped that after the Miami Dolphins traded for him and signed the wideout to a four-year, $120-million pact.
Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently said he and the Chiefs had been making progress in extensions talks until Adams' new contract in Las Vegas "flipped everything upside down." DeAndre Hopkins' deal with the Arizona Cardinals was the previous leader by a significant margin.

Diggs has also made two straight Pro Bowls during his Bills tenure after being acquired from the Minnesota Vikings. Additionally, the 28-year-old led the NFL with 127 catches and 1,535 yards in 2020.
