LaFleur: Trading away Adams was 'tough one for me'
It wasn't easy for Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur to say goodbye to star wideout Davante Adams.
"Sometimes, you got to make some tough decisions," LaFleur told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "Certainly appreciate everything Davante brought to our team. I mean, he is the best receiver in the National Football League, so that was a tough one for me personally and for our organization."
The Las Vegas Raiders pulled off a shocking trade for Adams earlier in March. LaFleur noted that "there really wasn't anything to talk about" in the Packers' bid to keep Adams after they franchise tagged the wideout this offseason.
"I mean, you're going through a contract negotiation, and certainly it was just one of those deals where, like I said, a lot of tough decisions had to be made," LaFleur said.
The Raiders handed Adams a five-year, $141.25-million deal upon acquiring him. The Packers were reportedly willing to offer him more money, but Adams was set on playing for Las Vegas.
Adams, who grew up a Raiders fan, described his new venture with the franchise as a "dream" move last Tuesday.
