Bucs reunite with Nassib
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed veteran defensive end Carl Nassib, the team announced.
It's a one-year deal, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Nassib spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. He racked up 21 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble across 13 games in 2021.
The 29-year-old previously played for the Bucs from 2018-19. He'll reunite with head coach Todd Bowles, who was Tampa Bay's defensive coordinator in 2019. Nassib enjoyed the most productive seasons of his career with the Buccaneers, amassing 63 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 25 quarterback hits.
The Penn State product provides much-need depth for the Bucs, who didn't re-sign veteran Jason Pierre-Paul this offseason. Pass-rushers Shaq Barrett and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka are expected to start for Tampa Bay in 2022, with fourth-year defender Anthony Nelson being part of the rotation.
Nassib played his first two NFL seasons on the Cleveland Browns after being drafted in the third round in 2016.
