McCaffrey to make 49ers debut in Week 7 vs. Chiefs
San Francisco 49ers fans won't have to wait long to see Christian McCaffrey in red and gold.
The star running back, whom San Francisco acquired in a trade with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night, will suit up and make his 49ers debut Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced.
San Francisco's game plan in Week 7 will feature a package of plays for McCaffrey, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 26-year-old joined his new team Friday.
The Panthers sent McCaffrey to the 49ers in exchange for second-, third-, and fourth-round picks in 2023 and a 2024 fifth-round selection.
McCaffrey, who in 2019 became just the third player in NFL history to register 1,000 receiving yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season, is one of football's most dynamic players. He's rushed for 393 yards (4.6 per carry) and two touchdowns to go along with 33 receptions for 277 yards and one score through six games this campaign.
Jeff Wilson leads the 49ers in rushing this year with 400 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He was limited to only 25 yards on seven carries in last week's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
