The Cincinnati Bengals expect wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase to miss four-to-six weeks with a hip injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Chase, who the team could place on injured reserve, sustained the ailment in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints and aggravated it during last week's win over the Atlanta Falcons, Schefter notes.

The 22-year-old won't need surgery, a source told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.

Chase has taken the NFL by storm. The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, who forms one of the league's most dangerous duos along with quarterback Joe Burrow, caught 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns as a rookie last season while helping Cincinnati reach Super Bowl LVI.

The 2021 fifth-overall pick out of LSU has amassed 605 yards and six scores on 47 receptions in 2022. He put up at least 130 yards and two touchdowns in each of his last two games.

Cincy owns one of football's deepest wideout depth charts, with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd each having 455 receiving yards this season while scoring two and three touchdowns, respectively. Chase's injury could also increase the number of targets for tight end Hayden Hurst and running back Joe Mixon.

The 4-3 Bengals, who rank second in the AFC North, visit the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football in Week 8.
