Bengals' Chase won't be placed on IR despite hip injury
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase won't be placed on injured reserve despite his hip injury, a source told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.
Head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Saturday that Chase will not land on injured reserve, according to Kelsey Conway of the Enquirer.
Chase, who's reportedly expected to miss four-to-six weeks, sustained a hairline hip fracture and torn labrum, Schultz reports. Landing on IR would sideline him for at least four weeks.
Chase sustained the injury against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. He aggravated the ailment while playing last Sunday versus the Atlanta Falcons.
The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year has been one of football's most explosive playmakers since entering the NFL as the No. 5 overall pick. Chase racked up at least 130 yards and two touchdowns in each of his last two appearances and has caught 128 passes for 2,060 yards and 19 touchdowns in 24 career games.
With the 22-year-old sidelined, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd will headline Cincy's wide receiver depth chart.
The Bengals face the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers over the next two weeks before a bye in Week 10.
