Report: Reich's job considered safe despite Colts' sluggish start
Head coach Frank Reich isn't in the hot seat despite the Indianapolis Colts' slow start in 2022, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Owner Jim Irsay told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Sunday that he's in a "great spot" with Reich and general manager Chris Ballard.
The Colts have a 3-3-1 mark heading into Week 8, and their offense ranks 30th in points per game.
The offensive struggles led Indianapolis to bench Matt Ryan and give the starting quarterback job to second-year pro Sam Ehlinger. Ryan has struggled this season, throwing nine touchdowns and nine interceptions en route to an 84.7 passer rating, which currently stands as the second lowest of his career.
Reich took over the Colts in 2018 and made the postseason in his first year at the helm, but he's only made it back to the playoffs once since then. Indianapolis is looking for its first postseason appearance since 2020 after a late-campaign collapse left them on the outside looking in last year.
