Colts' Ryan starts vs. Raiders in Saturday's coaching debut
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan started Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders after being benched in favor of Sam Ehlinger during the previous two contests.
The move came in Jeff Saturday's first game as interim head coach after the Colts fired Frank Reich.
Indianapolis beat the Raiders 25-20 to improve to 4-5-1. Ryan completed 21 of 28 pass attempts for 221 yards and a touchdown while adding four carries for 38 yards and a score.
Indianapolis fell to the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots in Ryan's absence. The offense scored just 19 points across those two games and failed to consistently move the ball, particularly last week when the Colts amassed just 121 yards of total offense against the Patriots.
Despite Saturday originally declaring Ehlinger as the team's starter moving forward, Ryan received some first-team reps in practice this week, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
