Las Vegas Raiders stars Derek Carr and Davante Adams were pleased that team owner Mark Davis publicly came out in defense of head coach Josh McDaniels.

"I think what our owner said is best: It’s not built in just one day. Like, it really isn’t," Carr said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "What his belief is and what Josh’s belief is, and (general manager Dave Ziegler's) belief is, there’s no denying their success. There’s no denying what they’ve been able to do."

Davis vouched for McDaniels earlier this week, stating that the coach is doing a "fantastic job" in his first year in Las Vegas despite the team owning a 2-7 record.

"I’m so happy to hear that Mr. Davis feels that way," the quarterback told reporters. I’m so happy that he loves Josh, he loves Dave, he believes in them. It kind of just gave us a breath like, 'Yes. Let’s just get better. Let’s work on being a better football team.'"

Adams, who is also in his first year with the Raiders, feels at ease with the patient approach taken by Las Vegas' front office. He referenced the difficulties in changing the culture of a franchise that hasn't won a playoff game since the 2002 season.

"There's no magic coach that's going to come in and change that," Adams said. "And I think that Josh is doing a great job, and he does deserve that, in my mind.

"We can all be better in certain instances, but some of the greatest coaches that this league has seen had some tough times, and I’m sure they didn’t all come out the block sprinting like Usain Bolt, starting their career off or starting with a new organization."

The wideout criticized the team following the club's loss to the Indianapolis Colts, saying postgame that it felt like there were not enough players who have "fully bought in."

The Raiders are currently riding a three-game losing streak and sit in the basement of the AFC West.
