Cardinals fire OL coach Kugler after reported groping incident in Mexico City
Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach/run game coordinator Sean Kugler was fired Tuesday after he groped a woman in Mexico City over the weekend, sources told ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.
The reported incident happened Sunday night. The club terminated Kugler and sent him back to Arizona on Monday after being notified of the ordeal by Mexican authorities.
The Cardinals were in Mexico City for their Week 11 contest against the San Francisco 49ers. They lost the game 38-10.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced Kugler's dismissal Tuesday but didn't give a reason for the sudden termination.
"We relieved him of his duties, and he was sent home Monday morning prior to the game," Kingsbury said. "It's challenging anytime you make a staff change in that type of manner, and I'm just going to leave it at that."
Kugler's duties will be turned over to assistant offensive line coach Brian Natkin and tight ends coach Steve Heiden.
Kingsbury hired Kugler, 56, to be the offensive line coach in 2019.
