Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce could be sidelined for up to three weeks with a high ankle sprain, sources told ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime.
Pierce suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Taken in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, Pierce has recorded 939 yards and four touchdowns on 220 carries this season. He leads all rookies in rushing yards this season.
Rex Burkhead figures to carry the bulk of the workload with Pierce sidelined. Dare Ogunbowale fills out the Texans' running back room.
Houston has lost eight in a row to fall to 1-11-1.
