Jets to start Wilson on TNF vs. Jaguars with White out again
Quarterback Zach Wilson will start Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with Mike White still not cleared for contact, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh announced Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
It will be the second consecutive game missed for White, who injured his ribs in Week 14. White took over the starting job from Wilson in Week 12 and posted a 1-2 record.
Wilson completed 18 of his 35 passes for 317 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions.
The Jets benched the former second overall pick due to a string of poor performances. However, Saleh has stood behind Wilson throughout the ordeal. The coach told reporters Monday that he believes Wilson "is going to be a good quarterback."
A three-game losing streak has dropped the Jets outside the AFC's playoff picture. New York holds an identical 7-7 record to the New England Patriots but trails the 8-6 Miami Dolphins for the final wild-card spot.
Wilson has thrown for six touchdowns to six interceptions across eight starts this season. He is completing 54.9% of his passes for a 75.3 passer rating.
