Report: Raiders expected to explore Carr trade in offseason

The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to explore trades involving quarterback Derek Carr this offseason, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said Wednesday the team would bench Carr in favor of Jarrett Stidham for the club's final two games amid a disappointing 6-9 campaign. Carr threw four touchdowns to six interceptions over the last three games.

The Raiders will have to decide on Carr's future prior to the third day of the waiver period after the Super Bowl, which is when he's due contract guarantees, Rapoport adds. Carr's 2023 base salary of $32.9 million and an additional $7.5 million of his 2024 salary will become guaranteed on Feb. 15, according to Spotrac.

Carr would be required to sign off on a potential trade because his contract contains a full no-trade clause.

The 31-year-old signal-caller told people close to him that he has no plans to retire if the Raiders move on from him, sources told Rapoport. Carr previously said that he'd likely quit football than play for a different team.

Carr has been the Raiders' starting quarterback since he was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He's made three Pro Bowls over his nine-year career while posting a 63-79 record.
